The gray and white wolf began scanning the area. Not many forest animals seemed to be around, which seemed a little unusual as it was rather warm today compared to the last few days. She looked up towards the sky to see that it was bright and blue. From the strength of light that was hitting the leaves of the trees, it seemed like it was the middle of the day. Hopefully I can find somewhere to rest and a river, or some source of water before it starts to get dark, she thought. The small wolf continued to tread on, determined to reach her goal. As she traveled further into the forest, the wolf realized how quiet it had gotten and slowed down. I can barley hear a thing now. She didn't even hear any birds flying from above, her footsteps being the only thing that reached her ears. Surely the forest animals weren't hiding from her, right? She knew knew her grey and white pelt made her stand out against the earthy colors of the forest, but she hadn't been in the area for a long time, and from the start there weren't a lot of forest animals hanging around. Usually she would see more animals than she did. She narrowed her blue eyes in thought as the continued on with her search.

The white wolf stepped carefully through the forest, dodging branches and treading around dead leaves. Silence was what he had been trained to make, and silence was his only sound. The trees shivered around him as his swiftness swept passed each thin trunk. His nose took in a quick whiff of the air, stiflingly empty of any clear fragrance. He was famished, yet no animal presented itself to him. His golden eyes scanned the treetops, as distant as they were from the ground, in hopes of spotting a bird or even a squirrel, but, of course, the forest was quiet. If he were not so careful, he would have been able to hear his own breathing, but he had learned to soften even that sound. He had to make it through this forest. His entire journey depended on it, and a little starvation was not going to stand between him and his true goal.

Blue stared at blue. A single she wolf sat under a tree, looking toward the sky. The female lowered her head, looking around, only to sigh. She stood up and started walking, knowing she was going the wrong way. She could care less, wanting only to find a way out of this deafening silence.

Every minute that passed made her realize how hungry she was. And the silence was becoming more and more intolerable the longer she stayed. She considered howling simply out of bored, and to hear something other than the grass and leaves she was stepping on. Then she immediately decided against it. If there were still any forest animals in this forest, her howling would just drive them away from her. The little wolf let out a small growl of annoyance. She began hoping that she was getting closer to any kind of shelter. A small rustling sound reached her ears and she immediately perked her ears. The gray and white wolf smelt the air around, but she didn't pick up any different from what she was already smelling "Hello?", she called out. She planned to say nothing else. If this was a piece of prey that finally decided to come out of hiding, she wasn't going to drive it away with her barking just because of a sound that she may or may not have heard. She took a few cautious steps towards, hoping that something would finally reach her line of sight.

The white wolf turned his head to face the rustling sound that he heard. Though the noise had only been momentary, it was deafening to him. Was it prey, or was it another wolf? Even worse, was it a bear? There was a high probability that he did not need to investigate. Then again, this forest seemed dead. Whatever had made that noise was probably an outsider as he was. His paws glided across the ground, making no sound whatsoever, and he pursued the noise that had reached his ears, while constantly looking around. He had no intention of being seen first here. Caution was key to finding the identity of a foreign being, not recklessness.

A white and golden shadow moved through the forest, slow but moving. It seemed tired, unsteady, but it would not stop pushing on. The she wolf let out a small sigh as she looked back to the moon, blue meeting white. She longed for that beautiful memory to once more be a reality. She gave a short, sad howl before moving slowly forward once more.

Nighttime came faster than the wolf had expected and she soon found herself surrounded by dark colors. She decided to pick up the pace and move a little faster. The faster she found a place to rest, the better. She had long since abandoned searching for the source of the rustling sound she heard earlier, but she was still pretty cautious. An unexpected howl almost made the little wolf jump. Another wolf is here?, she thought, more curious than surprised. She hadn't smelt any wolves around for as long as she was here. Curiosity began to stir. The howl didn't seem to far from where she was and she was confident that she could find the other wolf, despite the fact that the howl was short. It didn't take her too long to decided to follow the sound. If she was lucky this wolf would be someone she could talk to and help her avoid the silence of the forest.
Soon enough, the little wolf noticed a light-colored figure slowly getting ready to disappear into its surroundings. She noticed how slow the wolf was moving, and it didn't seem too much like a "taking your time" slow. She slowly walked towards the other wolf before she stopped a few feet away from it and called out,"Hey are you ok? You look a little tired."
(Not the best post, but here it is.)

((No, it looks good to me, Mist.))
The white wolf heard the howl in the distance and froze in his tracks. Now, there was certainly another wolf here in the forest, and he wanted to know why. Not many wolves made it out here. Rumors spread about this place, the lack of any food, the lack of any water... just quiet, cold, unbearable quiet. He tried to focus on his journey and not his surroundings, but that was an almost impossible task here. He wondered if he should howl back but decided not to after a few seconds. He would continue his stealth mode for the time being. He had no intention of falling into another wolf's trap. No leaves stirred as he ran. No wind rushed past him. His silence matched the quiet of the trees here.

The she wolf looked up, shock evident on her face. She blinked at few times to clear her thoughts before replying. "Yes, I am tired, young one. The world is a cruel place to my kind and your kind alike." She sighed again, before turning more toward the other wolf.

The grey and white sighed inwardly in relief at the fact that the other wolf hadn't ignored her and seemed willing to interact. She was slightly confused when stranger said "my kind and your kind alike.", but she didn't give it a lot of thought. It probably didn't mean anything. She gave a small nod in response. As stranger got closer, she realized that they were older than she was, but still welcomed their presence none the less. "This forest is awfully quiet," the little wolf said, basically saying whatever popped up in her mind. "I've been here for hours and I haven't heard, smelt, or seen anything until I heard your howling." That fact kinda bugged the much younger wolf. Usually when she entered a forest, it was filled with a lot more sounds and game than what she was finding here. While the place was like any other forest, the silence was unusual to her and it was really starting to bug her.

The she wolf nodded. "But this is no normal forest. The forests of this world and dying, slowly, painfully. This forest seems to be already past the point of saving. Dead, utterly dead. Deathly quiet. No life, no possibility to support a living creature." Tsuki lowered her head.

The small wolf's blue eyes lit up in shock at what the older wolf had said. "All of them?" she repeated, even though she believed what they'd said. A forest was the only place where the young wolf felt at home. To hear that they were all dying made her said, but made her even more upset knowing the possibility that her birth place and her second home might be just like this place right now. For a moment she wondered if this had something to do with the humans, but for them to be killing all of the forests around the world seemed a little ridiculous. She was silent for a small moment before she asked the older wolf a question. "Is there any way to save them?" The forests that aren't dead?" It seemed like a silly question to ask, but the little wolf was curious. She doubted there would be a answer though, or at least a good one. They were only wolves. What could they do?

Tsuki smilied gently at the younger. "There doesn't seem to be anything any species could do at this point..." Her sad eyes looked once more to the moon.

The white wolf watched the interaction from a higher ledge, hidden well by grasses and bushes. Luckily, there was not a real wind to move his scent down to them. Why was that wolf saying the obvious? The world itself was fading, and the forests were certainly no exception. However, that wolf had a certain air about it, something strangely familiar yet distant. What was this force compelling him to move down to the two wolves below him? Finally, he quit resisting and stepped forward.

Tsuki looked at the male. "Wondered when you would show yourself." She smilied at him, humming slightly. The sound was eerily loud in the forest.
