Christmas is finally here. I hear music in the background. It is such jolly music. I lay in this brown box. I share this home with many others like me, ornaments. It is almost time for me to shine. I will be able to show off my red shine. The people who live in this house will love me. I know they will. All of the other ornaments do not care about Christmas. They feel it is a duty. I know it is my life. In fact, it is my longing passion to hang on the big green Christmas tree.
It's happening. My box is getting picked up. Slowly, it gets set down to the ground. I can see the light. It grows brighter by the second. Now, I see her. It is the little girl who lives in this house. She is so lovely. She is the only one who has ever put me on that tree. The only one! It has become a tradition. She's picking me up. Ah, she looks into me. She sees the reflection in me. I see the girl's precious smile. Now, she is taking me to the tree. On the highest branch she can reach, she hangs me up with as much pride as a little girl can have.
