Whispers of the Wind

[Hollia]

Alex steadily made his way through a vacant forest of pines. The wind whispered in his ears as he warily tried navigating a scent. He eventually stopped by a boulder and sleep found him.

[Tumainii]

Tumainii wound her way through the thick pine forest. The area seemed creepy to her, the land in which the trees grew seemed bare of any kind of shrubs or bushes. There was only pine needles and dust that accompanied the tall trees. A thin layer of mist also occupied the forest floor making the air cold and damp. She shivered to herself and nearly jumped out of her skin when she heard an owl hoot. She couldn't see it but heard it fly off into the star dotted sky. The wind whistled through the needles making the trees shiver, how could anything live here in such a creepy area? Although maybe the area wouldn't seem to creepy if she wasn't lost. All the trees looked the same! She felt like she had been wandering around in circles for hours.
She gave a huffed sigh and pushed on until the scent of another wolf greeted her. Normally she would turn around now but the thought of being with someone in a forest like this made her travel even faster to the wolf. First she spotted a large boulder and sighed happily, she had never seen it so obviously she wasn't going around in to many circles. Then the other wolf caught her eyes but sadly it seemed it was already sleeping.
"Hello?" she asked in a whisper hoping to communicate with it.

[Hollia]

Alex stirred suddenly from a sound that had already lost its enunciation by the time it reached his ears. He slowly opened one eye and saw only a colorful blur. He shook his head a little and opened the other eye. There before him stood a female looking at him. He stood quickly with a bright and groggy smile. "Hello, miss. What brings you to this neck of the woods?"

[Tumainii]

She smiled a little when the wolf suddenly scrambled to his paws. She felt a little bad for waking him up but wanted out of this forest and she wanted out now.
"Well..." she started "I'm lost actually." she sighed lowering her head. Tumainii looked behind her and cringed at the darkness, the forest seemed to whisper things into her sensitive ears. She looked back over at the male wolf and walked a little closer before sitting down "I was hoping you knew the way out."

[Hollia]

Alex sniffed the air lightly. "I believe I do, but I'm not quite positive, but I will assist as much as possible." Alex smiled at her.

[Tumainii]

Tumainii let out a sigh of relief "Thank you." She walked closer and smiled a little "I guess we should wait until morning...huh?" she said quietly to the male wolf looking up at the moon which was still high in the sky. Wandering around in the darkness wouldnt make much sense they might as well wait untill they could see better. She laid down on the pine needle covered ground curling her tail next to her "I'm Tumainii, by the way. Can I ask your name?" she asked tilting her head a little.

[Hollia]

Alex wagged his tail like a silly domesticated dog. "I'm Alex, and very pleased to meet your acquaintance." He smiled and lay down next to her.

[Tumainii]

Tumainii simply smiled back and laid her head down. She scanned the area, it was still creepy but she would admit, a lot less so now that she was with someone. She hadn't traveled with someone for quiet sometime now perhaps this was a good thing. She let sleep wash over her and consume her mind, dulling all senses.

[Hollia]

Alex tried best to stay awake. He had been wandering astray for awhile, but he refused to let sleep overcome him for the sake of his new friend. He heard a reassuring hoot from nearby and Alex began to daydream of his past, present, and future.

[Tumainii]

As day light broke through the thick branches of the forest Tumainii started to stir. The light hit her eyes and she moved her head trying to avoid it. Slowly she opened her eyes and froze momentarily when she spotted Alex. She had forgotten she met him last night, she had been so tired she feel asleep quickly. She didn't even remember half of the night. The forest was still eerily quiet, normally in a forest like this you would hear small animals, or birds chirping to greet the day. But there was nothing. Only Alex's soft breathing along with hers. Lifting her head up she blinked the sleep away from her eyes before standing and shaking out her coat of any pine needles that may have stuck there.
"Are you awake, Alex?" she asked softly "Day has broken, we should be moving."

[Hollia]

Alex sat up. He had indeed slept a few hours ago, but he had awoke after only a few minutes and stayed awake, but he would not tell his new friend he had slept. "I am awake. Should we eat first? I believe I smell a rabbit trail. We could find a few." He stood and stared into the forest as if a million rabbits were staring at him just then.

[Tumainii]

She perked her ears at the thought of food. She hadn't come across anything in this forest other then the owl the other night. Did he really smell rabbits? She tilted her head and walked forward taking a sample of the air but still she smelled nothing. She looked on in the forest with doubt but looked at Alex and nodded "You lead the way..." she said. It would be useless for her to split from him since she could smell nothing.

[Hollia]

Alex smiled enthusiastically and charged forward at a hyper speed. His paws beat upon the ground rhythmically as he sprint after one of the fresher trails of the rabbits. In minutes he was upon one and made an instant kill. He knew that would be little food supply in this forest. He had new found determination to leave the forest, so he quickly killed one more rabbit.

[Tumainii]

Tumainii followed Alex around and watched with great interest as he caught two rabbits with what seemed like no effort.
"Wow, those were great, Alex." she praised "I didn't even smell anything." she noted as she walked up to one and sniffing over its fur. The fur was damp with the mist and the rabbit smelled like the forest itself. No wonder she never smelled it. She looked toward Alex once more, was he from this forest? She sighed inwardly and looked to the rabbit again laying down in front of it "Thank you." she said with a small smile "I'll make it up to you, and catch the next ones."

[Hollia]

"No need, miss. We should be out of here in no time. Eat and we head out." He smiled and chose the small rabbit.
