Whispers of the Wind

Alex's eyes gleamed with amusement. "I have no one in this forest and I haven't any one to leave for. Why would I need to leave? On the outside world, you have to wait for the alpha to say you can dig into your own kill or wait for him to tell you to attack some one. I can live by the rules of the lone wolf. All the game in this forest is mine, because no one else wants it. I have nothing to fear in here. No one can hurt me, and I can't hurt any one, either. I'll admit it sometimes gets lonely in here, but I've gotten used to it." Alex looked away and stared at the ground.

[Tumainii]

She found it odd that if one didn't have something to tie them down that they would stay. But maybe this was just her.
"Well... I have no where to be in a hurry." and the forest was significantly less scary now. She was trying to hit that she could keep him company at least for a few days but her pride wouldn't allow her to say something like that straight out so she changed to subject "How come you don't just wander around?" after all this was what Tumainii did.

"Hm. I suppose I enjoy feeling familiar with things. If I wander then there may be someone or something that will get in my way. I enjoy owning this place with no one to challenge me. I do not mean to cower, but I just feel free here. There is nothing to put me in chains. There is nothing to make me feel regret except my own memories." Alex carefully examined his new friend. 'She is very peculiar,' he thought to himself.

[Tumainii]

Tumainii, since being casted out and forced into being a loner, had always had mixed feelings about owning a patch of land with no one else to share it with. She was always one for tradition but what was the point of owning land for yourself and no one to share with? No one to come home to and talk about your day. It seemed like a very sad life to her, not to mention boring.
"I suppose I can understand where you are coming from." she said simply "But, surely you had a mother and father at one point in time, where they also loners? Or a guess a loner couple, or did you once live in a pack?" she asked tilting her head promising silently that this would be the last question before sleep.
But she suddenly got the feeling she was being rude and quickly added "Not to pry or anything, just curious, you don't have to answer if you don't want." she assured him.

"Oh, well, I did have family. My family and I lived in a preservation park. We are ethopians and are very rare. You can notice by my fur I am different. One day my three sisters and my brother were playing and some how without even noticing we escaped and learned we could not get back into the park. So we decided it was time to leave anyway. We took off and separated some how. I have not seen them since." Alex looked into the distance in thought. He looked down with humiliation and regret. "I... Can I tell you something?" Alex fidgeted for a moment and after a moment started to speak again. "I... I don't like to be alone at all. I hate it, but my family generations back slowly adapted to being held in preservation. We are used to being protected and my instincts have been tampered with so I am no longer fit to stay in the wild. I should be in a park just like all the other ethopians. So I have to stay so my duller instincts do not get in my way. I can hunt with ease but I cannot handle other wolves because they are much more fierce than I." Alex slumped his head onto his paws and stared at the ground in sorrow. A single tear strolled down his muzzle. He sat up again. "I am sorry. I did not mean to open so much to you. It will not happen again." Alex stood and began to walk off.

Rune looked out over the horizon, her hair falling in the face of her human skin. Her dark eyes scanned the two wolves that seemed to exist in-between the tress and dirt. Could it be they too were searching for paradise? The thought made her heart race with excitment and her tail wag.

"Wait..." her voice rang in her head, only her two ears could hear this almost mocking voice.

"What if there not even friendly, what if they don't need you or your silly attempt at 'paradise'" Rune shook her head violently as to shake the voice. Even if they didn't need her, would it be that bad to try? She took a shaky step forward, paws hitting the dirt. If she didn't try she would never know.

Listening with interest she watched the male wolf almost crumble into defeat. That was why he didn't want to leave this forest? He had at one time been a wolf behind the safety of a fence, he didn't know how to defend himself now.

She watch a tear roll down his cheek, she was about to say something but he quickly got up to leave promising not to do it again.
"Ah, wait!" she got up herself and trotted over to him "There isn't anything wrong with opening up, and I don't mind. Besides we are all alone out here." a small gust of wind picked up ruffling her fur "I hadn't realized, if you want I can..." she was about to offer to teach him how to use his senses more, like a true pack wolf but the wind brought her a new scent. She slowly looked toward it "Perhaps I spoke to soon about being alone." she commented quietly "Do you smell that?" she asked scanning over the trees again and again with her amethyst orbs "another wolf is near by."

Rune stopped, the wolves seemed to move their heads.Could it have been that they caught her scent? If so what now? Running seemed all to easy.

"Suck it up Rune, if you want this go get it" The voice not even mocking her anymore seemed to drive her forward now. She moved faster, her paws hitting the dirt harder as she was soon in full view of the other two.

"Don't be scared" she whispered to herself as she moved now quieter and slower towards them. lowering her head as a sign that she was no threat.

Alex swiveled his head at the forthcoming wolf. He sniffed curiously and stepped toward her. "Hm. Hello, miss. They call me Alex. It is quite the pleasure to meet you here in my forest." He gazed at her critically. He mentally nodded his head in approval. She was obviously entering his territory without challenge and she seemed friendly and shy.

Tumainii sat back down, after all this wasn't her territory and if Alex wish to defend or welcome this new comer it was his choice. She looked up to the she wolf and voiced out a kind 'hello' but kept to herself as the other two talked.

Alex looked to Tumainii for her to greet their new friend but she sat so he continued on. "Welcome to my forest. Are you lost as well or do you come seeking refuge?"
